2009 , Work, Work, Work, Midway through the year, ready for a new birth anniversary. Still working and enjoying work. Not much to say for now, my keyboard seems to be acting up and it is late or early depending on where you are. Will update more later... Wondering how they are doing at University of South Carolina Upstate . Currently, I am working more than I have at any other time in my life. Not that I am not enjoying it, but it is rather difficult to maintain some regular type of life. But, this is all in the name of "catch up." Going to school full time can drain your ability to pay the bills in a timely manner... So, that's what this whole "work-till-its-all-paid-off" kick is about, at least for right now. Just to recap a little, I moved from Austin, Texas all the way to a small city in the upper west area of South Carolina called Spartanburg. The Five Year Plan: Revised --- I had not revised this in some time as I moved. Once moved, I job hunted. Once employed, I worked. Finding the time to update this in a timely fashion can be tricky. Wish me luck.--- (This is part of the original text and I decided to leave it in) Please understand, this path I am on started over 20 years ago. I never finished high school. Not because I couldn’t, but because I was bored. I had one of my high school counselors tell me to drop out, get a General Educational Diploma and go to college. I finally did it, but it took 20 long years to finally accomplish it. Oh, I got my GED when I was 19 and I did attempt college. But, I didn’t have a vision, a focus or a purpose. There was a lot going on in my life. There were many changes occurring not only to me physically, mentally and spiritually, but to the people in my family. To look back on it now it amazes me that we all survived. But we did do just that; we survived. In fact we did more than that; we lived. Here I sit thinking about what lies ahead and I realize the entire journey I traveled gives me the strength to keep going. I think, “I made it this far and that was many mountain peaks and valleys I crossed!” It is only in the last few years I am able to step back and assess what I want and more important what I am. These past few years I developed a sense of purpose, an internal compass that guides me to where I need to be in my life. This focuses my energy to the specific tasks at hand and gives me the strength to work and study long into the night. Maybe by my writing about it I can help someone to take that chance and listen to the voice inside. I left the city, which I lived in for almost 20 years, left friends and family. Moved almost 1000 miles away because my dream of becoming a chiropractor involves going to Sherman Chiropractic College. With little college experience, only 6 credit hours, I enrolled in Spartanburg Technical college. Now, with 36 credit hours, I am starting a new chapter by transferring into USCS. There, I must complete a scholastic program that will fulfill my needs for Sherman Chiropractic, I must have 90 credit hours to apply, and allow me to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from USCS. Upon completion of the program I will also have a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Sherman. That is the five-year plan. The trick is keeping on the path. So far, there haven’t been any lava flows or falling meteors. A few small obstacles, but I take those in stride. Ok, since the divorce things have changed… I am back in Austin and finding a new direction, worked at Dell in their sales call center, not what I want to aspire to, so I left and am going back to school, for me this time… Not to help someone become a “Doctor’s Wife…” I am going to go for me and me alone. It’s a brave new adventure and I face it with my head held high. Because it is my life and my choice. You can always sign my Guest book, it has a great auto-notification feature.
